Perhaps I didn't explain myself very well.

My problem is that men with dark full beards remind me very much of the dreaded
Islamic State terrorists, and I cannot understand any man wishing to look like them.

I also think that men, and women, are being influenced by those who choose to
introduce new fashions purely for the purpose of boosting sales.

Then, again, I was born too early.

Not all Muslims with beards are terrorists though Aggers. I believe that the men grow beards for religious reasons?

Oh definitely! Overpriced brands like Superdry and Hollister are a must-have for many of the younger generation (thankfully my two aren't interested). I went into the Hollister store in the Bullring once and it was so dark in there - perhaps so that parents can't see the prices!

Hmmm .....

"The Ostrich" and "sartorial elegance" are not two phrases which, over the years, have readily combined, and certainly not in relation to facial adornment.

In its earlier years, when it was a mere fledgling, the Ostrich's plumage consisted of a Ringo Starr fringe combined with a drooping Mexican mustache. (This may be evidenced on early passport photographs.) In later years, the mustache was cut back to the style known as the "Toothbrush", but perhaps in practice resembled more "Mein Fuhrer" .....

Eventually they invented Electric Shavers (God Bless Victor Kiam - he bought the company, if you remember the advert) and the Ostrich has been relatively clean shaven ever since; nowadays, it even sports a No.2 Buzzcut. Less of an Ostrich, you might say, more a Bald Eagle ...

At least Aggers would approve .....

Personally I'm not fond of facial hair at all

An ex colleague of mine has one of these very full beards - as does his partner; and no they don't look particularly good. A nice short trimmed beard is just about OK; but moustaches I can't handle at all.

Thank goodness we're all different, right?

I know I know I know it's not PC - but the first thing that jumped into my head was...poor girl!

Ally that just made me spit my coffee over my keyboard

The other day, on Midland News on the telly, they showed some men with massive beards
preparing food in a Birmingham restaurant, and I thought, if people preparing food are required
to cover their hair, why doesn't it apply to beards? These men had more hair on their faces than
most people have on their heads. Am I being unreasonable?
