Lol Kaz yes an 'at would 'elp :D

Jen do you have a checklist?
It took us a long time to find this place but we stuck to our guns and got what we wanted.
We had two columns, 'essential' and 'preferable'; preferables were negotiable, essentials weren't.
Every house details sheet was first checked against the list and if it didn't meet the essentials then we didn't bother wasting time going to see them; we also spent a lot of time going round looking at the locations and outsides of houses, so could cross loads off without bothering to actually arrange viewings.

Essentials for us included things like:
Decent parking, whether on a drive or plenty on the road.
Garage (but attached to the house was 'preferable' - what we've got is a garage in a block at the end of our little road).
Shop within easy walking distance - you don't want to be getting the car out to get the paper or a pint of milk - and what if you're snowed in, which we have been.

You get the idea - it wasn't a very long list but focused our minds on what really mattered and what might not, if the house was nice enough :)

Morning all, very miserable weather here, drizzled and cold. We are on our way to look at carpets but Mr "I'll only be a few minutes" Osc wanted to call into the site to talk more to the electrician - 20 minutes later I am still sitting in a cold car waiting    Oh here he comes  Supposed to be going dancing tonight, but we shall see.

Debih the others have said it all, you need to take some time for yourself, you have been going through so much with more to come so take care of yourself xxxx

We do have a checklist Di, it sounds very much like yours.

Essentials:
Good parking, preferably with a garage attached
Easy walking distance to a local shop or shops (E can't drive and isn't able to walk too far these days)
Two good sized double bedrooms
Somewhere to put a 'proper' table to eat(don't mind adding a conservatory if the price is right)

We are prepared to compromise, there isn't a garage with the apartment for example, but the trade off there is allocated parking and the fabulous location, well out of our price range for a bungalow The fact it's perfect inside helps too. Having said that living in a bungalow just pips it for me, but of course now we've seen the apartment it really will have to be spot on.

Good luck Osc, at least choosing things like carpets makes you feel you're getting somewhere (((x)))

You'll get what you want I'm sure Jen - meanwhile you're getting to know the whole area better :) x

Good afternoon all, it's a wet one today after a few lovely, bright days.

I did some Christmas shopping after the gym. I only need some bits for the boys now and there's also the awkward ones left to buy for. I got back though to a text from my cousin saying "how about we stop buying presents this year?" Oh well, another child will now get the jigsaw I bought for her son and the chocolates I bought for her and her husband certainly won't go to waste ;)

Tom's in London today on a trip with his history group (plus M has tagged along to make up numbers even though she's not taking history  ) and they're going to see the Scottsboro Boys at the Garrick. I was listening to them talking the other day, they had a few hours free time and Tom was saying that they could go here or they could go there but she was saying that she just fancied finding a bar to sit in as she doesn't like cities....

Have a good day all!

Afternoon everyone :)

Jen that all sounds very sensible - I can't help hoping that the apartment people find something while you're still looking, and it all comes good  ;) :)

 Saundra

Brrrrr it is damp and chilly out there! I've walked to town, and back, via D's on the way home 8-) I've noticed the walk feels much easier since I lost a bit of weight, I might be running up that thar hill by the time I'm done, you never know :P ;)

Went to the PO as I was unsure of the postage on my nephew's card/pressie! The queue for the main counters was horrific, but those for the machines where you can buy stamps, weigh parcels etc weren't much better. No choice though, so got that done. Then I bought Mick a DVD for our anniversary tomorrow - we don't always do gifts but this is our 10th and he did pay for that nice handbag for me on Saturday :D

Shepherd's pie and green beans for dinner - comfort food 8-) ;)
