Morning everyone

A lovely, sunny morning, much better than yesterday - we didn't open the shutters at all. Had some wet stuff overnight and more expected this afternoon and we're in for a wet and windy few days, apparently.

Not sure what we'll be doing today, I really should have a go at putting some photos on the photo board, but also go other stuff to do - then again, I might just finish my book

Huge hugs for Loz today xx and hope you're feeling better soon, too Saundra. Friars balsam? is that the one you put in hot water with a towel over your head ?

Hope you all have a good day, whatevr you're doing xxx

Morning all. Brrr - its cold out there.

I've been out walking the neighbours dogs this morning - I've really missed my morning walks with Millie so I offered to take theirs to save her having to do it before work. It's lovely up on the moors but very, very cold. Ironing for me next and then I'm hoping to slot a bit of knitting and tv watching in before school pick up.

Spoke to the vet this morning and she said she came in today to be told that Millie had kept food down yesterday and she is really pleased. She still wants to do the balloon dilation again today (and probably again in a couple of weeks time) and that if all goes well she would like to get her home for the weekend. :D She said that the feeding regime will be a long hard slog at first - lots of small meals, fed from a height and possibly even by hand at first - tinned food rolled into small balls and fed one at a time. But we will manage it. My neighbour thinks she has a dog coat somewhere that will fit Millie (she had it for her dog when they were in the mountain rescue together) so she is going to look it out for me which will save us buying her anything. I don't "do" dogs in clothes but I think in this weather, with all the weight she has lost she will need something.

Thinking of Loz today - hope all goes well.

good luck Loz, the news on Millie sounds promising....touch wood.
It's amazing how the familiar walks take on a whole new image when we have a hoar frost, everywhere looks magical and different. We walked down the lane this morning and along the beck for a couple of miles then back along the A19 inside a fenced corridor so the dogs are off the lead most of the way round, Esme is curled up on her bed now and probably looking forward to the next walk at 2pm....minus 5 here at the moment with gales and more snow forecast for tomorrow.....great!

Afternoon all!
It's dull and bitterly cold here today, I have to say that I'm so glad I invested in a lovely down-filled jacket for this Winter, it's certainly paying off now.
I went to the gym first thing and then walked over to town. I bought a little USB fan, with a bendable 'neck' back in the Summer. It's great to use in the treadmills at the gym seeing as the air conditioning system they have in there seems to just have two settings - warm and hot. Anyway it stopped working on Tuesday night when I was in there so I went to see if I could get another today but they're not being stocked now. Ebay has just come to my rescue though.
Billy's just had his walk and now he's asleep on my feet.
Need to do the 'big' shop tonight. Can't say that I'm looking forward to that seeing as people will no doubt be panic buying due to the forecast snow.

Hope Loz's appointment goes well and that the poorlies feel better soon.

JoM
We have two small fans. They work off batteries, or can be plugged in to the mains using a small transformer, or into a USB socket on the computer. Got them in Italy. We are going there again in July so could bring one back for you. Last time we bought one it was about five euros.

I'm back after a grueling past couple of days. The short version of the story:
I was asked by one of the managers to get information on our password and user name for the website we have
as they have been unhappy about the number of hits it gets in the year and want to investigate other possibilites
to see if we can improve our search results. I normally get along really well with the guy who hosts our website
but when he asked why I needed this information, I thought in my usual brainless way that I'd just tell him the truth.
He was not unaware of the problems we'd been having. We'd tried to iron them out with him in the past. I said we were
just trying to find some sort of solution to this problem and he basically decided to dump us. No matter how I tried
to explain we had no plans to leave him - I even asked him to propose producing a different website (more money for him!) but he won't budge. I felt like I'd been slapped. I've been feeling so much anxiety about this problem because I know neither of my bosses are computer people and any resolution will have to be found by me. And I'm not a computer programmer. I tend to view the computer as a glorified typewriter... So I hope I can get the website transferred to a different web host soon and that my boss will go easy on me. I was worried I was going to lose my job over this - honestly - I've been that stressed....

Oh dear Elaine - I sympathise over the host problems. As you know our old host for VV played silly beggars with us in November, and we had to find a new 'home' and fast! All the more worrying when it is a job-related issue rather than for leisure :(

I do hope you get it sorted soon (((((((((((((((E))))))))))))))))) xx
