Blasted pension people

Grumpy reached the grand young age of 65 last October and the pension people had been in touch, saying you'll receive an amount every month, plus Christmas bonus.

He had a letter from them in December to say that there was a problem with our account and could he complete another form. This time, we got the bank manager (love him) to do it, just to make sure that all the numbers were in the right place.

Still nothing went in.

So this morning, I rang them.

Due to "some-one" missing off three numbers from the account and also because they'd put in the incorrect code for Portugal, no money was going in anywhere

So this very nice lady and I got it all sorted (with a little help from Grumpy  )

A vast amount of money is being put into our account tomorrow, so we can get at it by Friday, hopefully.

And apparently, it's snowing in Newcastle 8-)

But how on earth can you make such a mistake? Three numbers missing??? And last time I looked, the Algarve is in Portugal

Blimey Ton that's awful, there's really no excuse, although actally Bb's dad had similar problems and he's just down the road!
I used to work in pensions and can honestly say that kind of thing just didn't happen, and we were administering the schemes for hundreds of companies.
Still, you'll now have a lovely lot all at once, and now it's sorted it will carry on as it should :)

Yeah, I'm now planning on a shopping spree

The lady I spoke to was really good, just whoever did the inputting obviously doesn't know their Portugal from their where ever they sent it

I was getting a bit worried, as the account is now getting very low and I really didn't want to get money sent over from our savings account in Jersey - costs 45 squid (of our money  ) to get our money sent over.

Got you over a barrel, these banks

But our lovely bank manager, who practises his English on me  got me sorted out with internet and phone access to our Portuguese account this morning :D

I think you will get a separate one when you reach 60, Ton and you will have to apply then. :D

:D :D :D Yayyyyy good news in the end!!!! Really pleased for you Ton......

Talking of pensions I am worried about mine now, with the new changes they have announced today. Before this I was only two years short of qualifying for a full pension, and was seriously considering paying the several thousand it would take in voluntary contributions to top me up. That was when you needed 30 years to qualify and I have 28 years either paid or covered - now you will need 35 years and that leaves me 7 years short, which would cost a heck of a lot to pay up :?

I suppose I'll have to ring them up and get a forecast.............. :?

Sorry Ton I have threadjacked you  but it's been playing on my mind all flipping day :? :( I don't even get it now until I'm 66 - I'm so fed up with the way they keep changing the goalposts :(

no worries Kaz xx

Vic, it's our money - I have to put up with him

And Kaz, I was the same, I now have to wait until I'm 66 - another 10 years

I have been told that I will get the full pension, just have to wait another "few" years. Yeah right, from 60 to 66
