Do you like vegetables?

Postby Workingman » 31 May 2014, 10:40

I do, I sometimes have vegetarian days. :D :D :D

I ask because a study by Leeds Uni has found that they could make babies, even fussy eaters, "like" vegetables...... though they did it with purée and and added veg oil, or sugar, or both, to some of the meals.

Back in my day all mum did was mash some up with a fork with possibly a knob of butter or a splash of milk. If we were very lucky we might get a spoonful of gravy from dad's plate. Nobody, but nobody, would have dreamt of adding oil or sugar.....   One was for frying in, the other was for putting in tea. Purée was something French, but it could have been anything.

I absolutely adore veggies. :D :D

Steamed or roasted probably the way I cook them the most. :D

I don't eat pork or lamb so find it really easy to go days without eating meat as I eat lots of salad too. :D

Oooh...off to grab a chunk of raw cauliflower now.

For a snack, later, I am thinking of having a plate of tomatoes drizzled with balsamic and a sprinkle of salt and black pepper. A bit of bread will do to mop up the juices. :D :D :D

That sounds yummy WM :D

We're big vegetable eaters and can quite happily do without meat some days.

I found that study very odd, since it's well known that it takes 10 or 11 tastings for something not previously liked to be acceptable. and it's been practise for donkeys' years to mash veg to feed babies :?

We both love veggies and do go days without eating meat.

Veg are what we run out of most; I keep some frozen (spinach nuggets and fine beans mostly, sliced peppers when fresh are expensive). Today I have a lovely big shiny aubergine to make Jamie's tomato and aubergine pasta sauce :D

Don't like cold curry, love cold chilli :D
