Never rains......

Postby miasmum » 11 May 2014, 22:01

Just a quick update on my boy.

On Friday he went to The National Society for Epilepsy in Buckinghamshire for psychological testing. This is all part of the decision whether or not to do further surgery. The psychiatrist just talked but the psychologist had him working. She showed him lots of pictures 4 to a page and asked him to point to one. They started off easy and got harder and more abstract. He struggled a bit, but on one she asked him to point to the circle, out of a circle, oval, square and rectangle. He pointed to the oval and I must have said something because he looked at me. She moved on and a few pages later he said "can I see the circle again" She took him back and he got it right. All the while he kept looking at me and Tim for reassurance, but he did so well. She asked him what he liked doing and he said puzzles and watching DVD's. She said which films do you like, he said Shrek, she said any others, yes Shrek 2

Then we went to Woburn Abbey on the way home and he loved it. We got monkeys on the car and playful bears.

So that is the upside of the week.

The downside has been Tim with gout and Luke being served 3 months notice to leave his current residential home.

Gout is really really painful Kaz. He couldn't even bear the bed clothes touching it.

We are held up by court of protection, whose wheels turn oh so slowly. When Tim was in A&E with Luke on 1st May, Billy the owner said "I am presuming you are moving Luke" as the papers were served to them and Tim said COP take about 4 months, a week later they give him 3 months notice. Spite is not a nice attribute to have. We have always been clear about our intentions to move him, since they took in the fifth resident, some days its like bedlam in there, plus all the internal doors are locked now. Originally we were considering some flats his current home are converting from next door, but you can't pin them down to what care model they would be, plus back in October they were going to ready in 8 weeks, they are still covered in scaffolding nearly 8 months later

Ria, they say they cannot meet his complex health needs. His health needs are only complex because they make them so, by insisting on always ringing 999 and not waiting a little longer.
