A certain high street electrical store had something I wanted at the price I wanted, so off I went and logged in having first checked that I had the funds.

I got right through to payment, but it was refused. The system told me to try again, so that's what I did, with the same result. The system now suggested that I ring for help. The young lady was very helpful, but still no payment accepted. She suggested that I ring my bank to check that my card had not been blocked. My bank confirmed that my card was OK, but when we got down to account balance and payments made it was way out - way out to the tune of the money I had been trying to spend on the Internet. That payment was "pending". So it's off back to the store and the helpful young lady. For some reason the store's system was not accepting the payment (the one pending) even though the money had left my account. The money was with a company called WorlPay, but because my payment had been refused three times (as suggested by the store) it would not release the money, which would now have to be returned to my account and my order cancelled - that would take 24hrs!!! Back to my bank; yes, they could see what was going on and the money would be in by lunch tomorrow.

The upshot is that through no fault of mine I am ££££s down and some international banking organisation has it for 24hrs to do with as it pleases. :x :x :x :x :x

Wm if brought through worldpay before and never had a problem
I do hope you get it sorted
Alot of places use PayPal now which suits me

We do make purchases on line, some with Amazon, some TV shopping channels and some small British companies who have a UK phone number and address. Never had any problems.
Recently queried a debit on one of my credit cards. I had used the card in America for one purchase and had the receipt for that one. But no knowledge for the second one with the same company and no receipt. Emaiied the company asking for full details of the transaction.Got an automated reply asking for information I did not have.
The credit card company have refunded the money. As a result of this action the credit card company cancelled the original credit card and have issued me with a new one with a different number.
Not a purchase, but have just sent our grand-daughter some money by bank transfer using internet banking. Before it was approved for payment, the bank sent a text message to my mobile phone with a security code which I had to enter on the screen before completing the transaction. This had to be done within three minutes of the message being sent, not received and viewed.

I do probably 90% of my purchasing on line now and - touch wood - have had no problems. I use Paypal where I can, otherwise my card.

I am quite comfortable with buying on line, even if I do have a top-up card specifically for that purpose - just to be safe. What bugs me about these things is that it only takes a nanosecond for the cock-up to take place, yet it takes an age to sort things out.

Like Rodo I use Paypal where I can, otherwise the debit card!

I buy everything on line nowadays, can't get to the shops any more. I usually use my credit card as it's covered for on line fraud. Fingers crossed, I've never had a problem.

I only use my pre-paid Master Card for on-line purchases, but I have had problems on one or two occasions,
but only with one or two companies. Mastercard have recently introduced a new security process and it seems
that this is causing some problems on certain websites.

It is frustrating though. Another problem I have is that my Post Code is not valid according to some websites,
although is has been in existence for three years now.
