I don't suppose your city is any different from any other, Kaz.
Nowadays there are caring and uncaring people everywhere, but there does seem to be more uncaring ones
than there used to be, particularly, I think, among the younger generations. I have noticed that there are
often messages in our local newspaper thanking an unknown person who has done some kind deed of the sort
that, in my younger days, would have been done automatically by almost anyone. I don't know how this change
has come about but it is rather sad.
The same applies to honesty, I think. Some time ago I bought something in a newsagents and when I left the
shop I noticed that I had been given too much change, so I went back in to return the excess. I shall never forget
the look of incredibility on the faces of the customers queuing up to be served.
We are becoming a very sad society.
