Now where oi lived down in Zummerset, "where is he to" could also simply mean "where is he?"

"Where be that puppy to? Oh, he be behind the sofa ...." sort of thing! I wonder if Kaz's Glorcester West Country may be a bit different in terminology from moi West Country ...... :geek:

A couple of weeks after we moved south-west, I had a phone call from my, as usual, exasperated mother. By then, being a good mimic, I had adapted quite nicely to the Zummerset dialect, thank 'ee.

"Where did you say you were living?"
"Crukun"
"Where?"
"Crukun, Mother"
"I can't find it on a map ....."
"Near Yeovil, Mother - it's spelt C-r-e-w-k-e-r-n-e"
"Oh! Crew-kerne. Why do you you keep sayin' Crukun? I can't understand you any more ...."

Kaz, I didn't really lose the dialect when we came back to the West Midlands - and I did use it at work! Used to confuse the heck out of some of my more Brummie clients ......

That made me laugh about your mum, the accent is very catchy, I am already picking it up - Frank said I was at the meet if you remember?

I love some of the old Adge Cutler and the Wurzels songs. "PIll, Pill", "Twice daily" and "Don't tell I, tell 'ee" and others!

Friend who grew up in Devon would still always say 'where's that to?' meaning where is that?
But Bb's a cockney and he says it too :? :)
