Afternoon all, it's a fairly dull day here but dry and mild, so I won't complain. Been doing bits and pieces since after breakfast, and really should go and have my shower. Doing more bits and pieces this afternoon and then going dancing tonight. It's a new social over an hour's drive away, so we won't be going regularly, but we want to support the person holding it on the first night at least. Mr. Osc has gone out to play golf.

Di have a lovely "date day" out, Jen, I hope everything goes well for E, Saundra when you are finished with the airing cupboard you can come and tidy mine ;) Kaz, I hope the dentist went ok and that you enjoy your mooch around Cheltenham. Have a good day everyone :)

We've had a lovely time :D

First went to the farm shop which is in an absolutely beautiful place, down little lanes, complete silence apart from birdsong :)
Parked Bb in the tea shop where he had a caftiere of coffee plus a huge slice of cake. There's a minimum charge of £2.70 per person but for that you get a pot of tea or coffee and cake, so he had to have it ;)
Didn't buy anything in the farm shop but now we know where it is we'll go again next year - the teashop's only open till the end of September.

Then we drove down the main road but turned off onto Rhinefield, which is called The Ornamental Drive. It's where the oldest trees in the forest grow and is always lovely but will be spectacular in another month or so. Through Brockenhurst and on to Burley, a really touristy village but nice too, and had lunch at The Old Farmhouse, a tearoom that's been there for over 100 years!
And I bought some good-looking stewing beef and boneless lamb from the proper butcher - have been promising Bb a lamb curry for a while :)
Drove home through more Forest and villages, we saw loads of ponies and foals, and donkeys too :)

That sounds lovely Di - especially the prospect of a lamb curry 8-)

Thanks Osc, the day has been a bit of a mixed bag really :? The dentist went well, although I ahve to go back in ten days for the actual bridge being fitted. The new dentist is nice too, I was a bit worried about that as the old one, who left in August, was really nice and patient with me.

Oh and I got some fab new shoe boots in Clarks! ;)

The mooch however didn't go so well - first of all a really grumpy man was a bit rude to me in Nero's. He was sat near the window taking up a whole cluster of an armchair and sofa combo that would seat 4 or 5 at least. The place was full so I asked if me minded if I sat on the sofa and he said "I suppose not!" in a really snotty tone of voice, letting me know he wasn't at all pleased, which I must admit really took me aback. Not being funny but middle-aged and older men tend to be polite and nice to me when I'm out and about usually.............. :? As soon as the lady at the next window seat moved I moved to her seat and turned my back on the grumpy old b*gger :-P

Then on the bus on the way home as I was getting off an old lady asked me to tell the driver that she was also getitng off, I guess in case he pulled away too soon, and I did so and he bit my head off "Yes, I did see her!"   "Sorry" said I "but the lady asked me to tell you........." :?

I think I'm losing my touch................. ;)

Then worst of the lot, I got home to a letter from the DWP telling me they've put my pension age back yet again, from 65 to 66 this time..................... :x

Not been the best of days really...............
