Down in the West Country, many years ago, I was once told that the following was standard practice:
a) if you hit and kill a deer in your truck, you're not allowed to take the carcass for butchering
b) so phone a friend and tell him where you are
c) because if he then, ahem, "finds" the carcass, he is allowed to take it ......
How apocryphal, or indeed legal, that was, I have absolutely no idea!!
