DEET is the only thing that really works....

Except that it isn't.

Evening mozzies are attracted to the smell of feet, even though they might not be 'smelly'. A soak in vinegar water works to put them off and can keep them away from a whole group of people. Citronella candles, and those of myrrh - frankincense etc - also repel mozzies.

A few mothballs left about an area also work.

Di I took my eczema hydrocortisone cream to Corfu with me in case of a flare-up and used it on a couple of bites I got - mozzies or sandflies, not sure which - and the bumps went straight down. It's great for bites like you said, and you can buy it over the counter :)

I think they're immune to those WM, over here.

They're on sale everywhere and I often have them lit outside, but still get munched  I also have lots of insence sticks - will have to have them going in the house too, until it gets too hot. Then we don't see them until it cools down in October ish.

Wm none of that works for me.
The Avon stuff does help some people but not me, or not enough anyway, and tbh it's safer to spray with the proper stuff if you get a bad reaction, then you know how many hours it's meant to last.
Oh and close the bedroom window until just before you go to bed, otherwise they come in all evening and hide till you're asleep!

The only spray my gp recommends is Boots Jungle Formula, in the grey aerosol can; at the moment it's buy one, get one half price so well worth it. Once she saw how extreme the reaction is on me she understood!
And then plain hydrocortisone cream, you can buy it over the counter, is for if you get bitten. The cream will stop it swelling and itching, the sooner you put it on the better. The second you feel an itch, it will be a tiny little bump, that's when to put it on, but even if it's got a bit bigger it will still make a huge difference.

Ton it's not like an itch-relief cream, they don't do b*gger all either.

I use detol ointment at the first sign of itch, then don't touch for 3 days. For me it's the only thing that stops them flaring up, and I've tried nearly everything. Anti-histamine creams do diddly squat, and the tablets only slightly better.
Everything happens for a reason
