Afternoon all!

It's windy and grey here  I've been to the gym and then taken Billy for a run. Once Tom's home from school (Joe's getting the bus to my parents) I'm going to run down to Tesco to get baking things to make some cakes and brownies tomorrow for John to take into work on his birthday on Wednesday. Once John's home from work we're going to order a big huge enormous massive Chinese takeaway and pick it up on the way to my Mom and Dad's house. Dad's 80 today but doesn't want a fuss so this is what Mom and I decided to do. He's not one for going out for meals really and loves Chinese food. I didn't know what to get him - anything he wants to treat himself to he goes and gets - so we're taking him for a day out, to the visitor centre at Manchester Airport to go on the Concorde tour. He's very interested in aviation and loved Concorde so I think he'll really enjoy that.

Ton, I hope the bite and hayfever ease soon - I suffer with both so know how miserable it can be.

Kaz, Joe has a thing about hats - I once looked out of the window and saw him cycling around the close wearing a Fez

Jo the Concorde tour sounds perfect :)
My dad worked at the RAE at Farnborough when it was still being tested and he knew the schedules so I'd tell the teachers at school and they would let us go out and watch :)
I've been on a private tour :D Someone I knew was friends with someone who was something quite high up, chief engineer maybe? This was when Concorde was having a refit, so we went to Heathrow and had our very own private tour, it was brilliant, we were allowed to climb over the wing and everything :D I have photos (somewhere!) of us in the cockpit :) The friend had a pilots licence so he wore his wings specially for the photo :D

Sorry forgot to say, Happy birthday to your dad and hope you all enjoy the meal x

Thanks Di!

Ally, there's one near to Edinburgh which you can go inside, can't think of the name of the place now but we took the boys once. They've also been on one in New York - and where it is there I believe there's also a Space Shuttle now!

I used to see the Concorde all the time! I grew up right on top of Heathrow, in a little village called Stanwell, which borders the airport perimeter. Lot of my friends' parents worked there in some capacity :D I saw the Concorde on its first flight from Heathrow - we were allowed to stand on the school field to watch it.

I've also seen it static many times as the hangar where they kept it (them?) was right by the side of the A30, and I often saw it outside its hangar as I passed in a car or on the bus - it was smaller than you might think :o :D :D

That will be a special treat for your dad Jo :D :D 8-)
