As I understand things only vulnerable 5 to11-yr-olds will be offered the jab immediately and a decision for a full rollout will not be taken till well into the New Year, They are not compulsory. That seems sensible to me.
Johnson's remarks from before plan B are now being taken out of context. He was not speaking about the children, but all of us, and then in a somewhat roundabout way.
Johnson said he did not want Britain to be a "society and a culture where we force people to get vaccinated", adding: "I don't think that's ever been the way we do things in this country."
He also said that if vaccines are shown to be capable of "holding" Omicron then "there is going to come a point" when "we are going to have to have a conversation about ways in which we deal with this pandemic.
"I don't believe we can keep going indefinitely with non-pharmaceutical interventions, restrictions on people's way of life, just because a substantial proportion of the population still, sadly, has not got vaccinated."
His actual words are a world away from what is being claimed is going on and he was correct on all counts. It is time to stop paying attention to, and giving credence to, everything the media says.
