It's the kind of thing that would be perfect for someone like me Saundra. I suspect that fresh cooked on the hob may taste a bit nicer, but doing it like that takes time and during the week time is the one thing I don't really have lots of. On a normal work day I leave just after 7am and come home just before 7pm - I'm out 11.5 hours. Then when home I have the cats to feed and things to do before I get to sort myself out (winters are easy, but spring, summer and autumn I have the garden and the hogs to worry about as well and I often don't get to sit down until about 8.30pm) - so having something that can make me dinner in less than 30 minutes unsupervised is an absolute bonus.

I'm seriously thinking of getting myself one of these just because it's so easy - and no doubt infinitely healthier than most of the dinners I have now which whilst quick and easy don't really do much for the 5-a-day thing ;)

I do "get" the soup maker idea, I simply cannot justify one, though for those who do lots of soups the machine will pay for itself in no time. I have been to Asda and Heinz and Baxter's soups are up at the £1 to £1.20 mark per tin - a lot of soup can be made for that sort of price.

The other things I really like about home made soups are that you know everything that goes in them and you can tweak them to your heart's desire.

I love soup, and whilst I'm quite happy to buy the New Cov Garden cartons when they are on special at £1, I also like to make my own. As you say, you know what is in them, plus they are great for using up the odds and sods of leftover veg ;) :)

Ria, one would make perfect sense for you 8-)

What's wrong with opening a tin??

I don't have room in the kitchen for any more gadgets....but seriously, I wouldn't want one - good luck using yours!

I hate tinned soup, far too salty for me, although I buy the odd tin of cream of tomato for B as she likes it :)
