Morning all. Brrrr - its cold out there this morning.

Excitement on our lane this morning - the girls set off to school as usual at 7.40am and couldn't get down the hill. It was like a sheet of glass, completely covered in black ice (although a couple of cars, including Mick and his van had gone down). So they came back home so I could drive them in a little later. Then a ,little white van got stuck coming up the hill and whilst he was stuck there a car came down and another van came up behind him. So, as we are a single track lane with few passing places, the van behind had to reverse back down through the gap, the stuck van had to start gritting so he could reverse back into someones drive and then the car could go down. By the time the girls and I went to leave at 8.30am the lovely, lovely man from the little white van had gritted all the way up and down the lane so I got out with no problem. Though it did take me almost 20 minutes to de-ice the car!

So, now I'm at work and pretty busy (coffee break time). I have to take S to the physio this afternoon and then we are going to call into The Range to get S a new xmas stocking (we have lost her old one which will, no doubt turn up when we bring the new one home!

Tom's phone arrived around 10.30 but by then all 26 of the family and friend presents were wrapped, and I was midway through writing the cards. I walked Billy for an hour or so in case the weather turned and now I'm just finishing off the cards and addressing the envelopes of those that need mailing.

Oh, and the tree was decorated late last night :)

Oh gosh wrapping pressies!! Another Christmas job I don't enjoy  I stick as many as I can in gift bags - I bought loads this year, mostly fairly cheap in multi-packs, with one or two special ones for important pressies ;) :?

Jen that's lovely, to have so many children still to buy for :D No children for me to buy for these days, H is the youngest in the extended family and he's nearly 15, all the rest are adults! I do miss the Santa years :o :? I was reminiscing with Mick the other night about the year we bought H (aged 4) a massive tractor and trailer sit and ride - we wrapped ROLLS of wrapping paper round it loosely on Christmas Eve, and then could hardly fit it into the living room, what with the tree, the furniture and the piles of pressies  He had to ride it in the conservatory until it was warm enough for the garden

Well I got to the GP's on time, Jo it is a real schlepp up there but to be fair, despite my little rant, it is all lovely and modern and they offer a lot more services now. I am having a skin thing removed soon and the old surgery couldn't have done that for me! :? ;) WW went well, then I went and got my once-a-week-treat - an apple and cream turnover this time  8-)  Shockingly cold out there, but I was reasonably ok in my big coat :D
