Hilarious afternoon yesterday at our local pub/hotel.
The landlady had organised a Bake Off for the regulars. The judges were Mary McBerry (she works at the local secondary school as a technician and originates from Scotland) and Les "Tick Tock" Hollywood (the local clock maker). They had both dressed appropriately - Mary in jeans, white shirt and tweed jacket and Les in checked shirt and jeans. He had also put heavy foundation on to look like a tan, shaped his beard especially and as he couldn't face blue contact lenses wore blue eyeshadow instead.
Category was sponge cakes and there were 10 entries (I didn't enter as I wasn't sure if I'd make it or not).
The cakes were laid out on a table and each contestant had drawn a picture of themselves to go in front of their entry. Les's wife acted as Mel (no Sue).
It was hilarious - and we all got to eat lots of cake. I felt quite sick afterwards. The landlady was the winner with her chocolate sponge.
Next one is December and the category is Christmas Bake.
