Our daughter's house where we are all living at the moment, the same one they were flooded out of three months ago.

It's horrid Osc - I really feel for you all.

Apologies for asking because I cannot remember from last time - do they know why it's flooding again; is it just the sheer volume of rain or are there drains close by that are blocked and thereby stopping whatever rain there is from draining away?

Oh no Osc, that's awful...bad enough the first time but to happen again so soon afterwards? :(

I'm wondering the same as Ria...

The most basic thing that could be done is to install a sump pump, which should have been done the last time. Too complicated to explain but water appears to rise from the water table and come into the house somewhere, no one has yet found out where. The landlord maintains he got an engineer's report and has to decide what to do, but nothing has happened. There is an internal channel between two inside walls which fills with water and then overflows but nobody has figured where the water comes from.

how odd - does the house have a basement? They should get someone with a snake camera to drill a hole into the wall and see what's going on inside there if they haven't done that yet

I hope they get it all sorted asap - can't be fun at all, esp with two small children

Absolutely horrendous Osc :( I suppose the one (very) small crumb of comfort is that the house is a rental, and not their own property :(

Oh god Osc not again! :(

I guess as Kaz says at least it's 'only' a rental and the LL should be responsible for anything like this....should being the operative word!!

I have everything crossed it's sorted very soon. My worst fear is being flooded - water is so damaging :( xxx

SIL really lost it with LL's agent this morning and suddenly things happened. The same company that Miss Osc located the last time came out, they spent the afternoon and early evening pumping out water and using an industrial squeegee thing to suck the water off carpets, then industrial dryers which are still here. Just after they had left, another guy arrived from the company with a sump pump which works like a dream in the mysterious cavity. We will be able to stay here and I suspect it will be early to bed, especially as a certain little boy is having his birthday party tomorrow - 17 children, what joy awaits us

The house is built below the road, bedrooms are downstairs and that part of the house is virtually built into a hill, how they ever got it passed by the planning people is a mystery to me  Shame because it has the potential to be a gorgeous house in a lovely spot.
