What a list of catastrophes.

Would make a good television programme.

Glad you are not affected.

Gosh. Fancy a bath falling through the floor with you in it! Lucky it's didn't go right through or someone could have been killed. It's one thing staying in a nice hotel for a week or two, but quite another having no choice and no home to go back to. I hope they get it sorted quickly and get the children back in their own beds.

The landlord was round this afternoon throwing out a few things to make way for the fitters tomorrow.

It sounded as though it was him who put S&A and the children up in the hotel to get things moving. He is also going to try to get the man next door to me, or his insurance, to pay up for the damage he caused. It is a long story about him being away at the time and not being able to be contacted.

I'm pleased the landlord is onto it.

I still remember our last flat in London, We didn't know, but everytime we had a shower, we washed the downstairs kitchen for them. You would think after 6 months they would have said something to us? no, they only complained to their landlord. after they moved out, obviously their kitchen had to be replaced. it had all been done the week we were away, while the flat downstairs was empty, and we come home from holiday that friday night, then monday home from work and I run a bath. Next thing I know there's workmen pounding on my door demanding to know what the H3!! did I think i was doing!! huh? said i, so I went downstairs to have a look and there was a waterfall coming through the ceiling!! can you imagine!! turned out that our bathtub waste wasn't screwed in properly. who know's how long it had been going on for. When we left 6 months later we went out into the garden which was part of downstairs flat, and saw that the brickwork was still wet. who knows what sort of mess that has left, but we couldn't get hold of our landlord, only the useless company that was managing it on his behalf. We pulled a swifty at the end of our tenancy saying we had some mail for him and could they give us his address to onforward it, and no we didn't mind putting extra postage on it for overseas, I must have got a dopey one that day as they gave me his address, in australia, so we wrote to him to let him know what was going on, as being landlords ourselves, we would have wanted to know. We got a lovely reply email from him saying, no he wasn't aware of any of that and thank you very much for telling him.

Dear oh dear, Weka, that is horrendous!

The fitters were here spot on 8:30 and have been bashing away...... We have new garden furniture consisting of old cupboards swelled up from damp, some rotten floorboard planks, ole lino, a worktop and rubble. :) :) :)
