You have sea and country and good shopping here.
Stay at the seaside and within half hour or so you can
be in Canterbury or Ashford for shopping and sight seeing.

I fancy Whitstable and Broadstairs Lissie and I would like to go to Canterbury for the day.

But again it is a bad time of year. I love castles and Kent has a several I would love to visit, but I bet they won't be open that time of year. Hate shopping with a passion so no interest in shops and don't like cities.

I know if we go to Mevagissey it will be closed, but the lovely harbour pubs will be open and no doubt still doing food. If not then we can have a drink and buy some fish and chips to eat on the harbour wall in our coats. I bet the fishermen will still be working too

We have been three times before, we've done the Lost Gardens, The Eden Project, the Fowey ferry, all the tourist stuff so as I said I am happy to do absolutely bugger all Just to be away from home

What about a hotel with a nice pool, where you could relax and have all your food cooked too? There must be some nice ones by the sea that are reasonable in January.

But Mm Tim did say anywhere but Mevagissey, so he must have his reasons?
It wouldn't exactly be a recipe for a good holiday if you forced him there, surely?
Has he given any clue at all as to what he would want, even if not where?

He wants the same as me Di a nice house or apartment with lovely sea views and also good for people watching, nicely furnished, in a nice large village or small town, with a harbour, nice places to eat and nice walks. Theres lots of nice's in there

Yes its lovely but look at the price. It would cost us £770 for the week and we would have no choice but to eat out every night.

I am not a bed and breakfast or hotel person for more than a night to be honest. But at that time of year, what do you do if it rains all day? You have to go out, you can't sit on your bed all day

I am making a few enquiries, things have progressed and we now have a list for future holidays

Pembrokeshire and Scotland for proper holidays

Poole (and visiting Compton Acres which we did years ago when Luke was a baby) and Kent for short breaks

But he can see my reasoning behind not going somewhere new in Janaury, so I am looking at other places in Cornwall as well as Mevagissey

Southsea is nice and close to the navel dockyards and the isle of white
Had some lovely holidays there watching all the navel boats
And the big liners conning up the solant

Decision made and it is a compromise. He is happy to go to Cornwall but wants to go somewhere else. So although it will work out a little bit more expensive, we are going to go to Mevagissey for 3 nights and Polperro for 4 nights. Tim really likes Polperro so that is his choice. My big worry with Polperro is that the man in the shop there told me there are only 7 houses actually lived in, the rest are holiday homes. Now that could more quiet than we are expecting. I am going to ask the owners on Owners Direct for honest feedback. If not Polperro then I think possibly Looe or St Agnes. I will speak to Debih about St Agnes when she has less on her plate

I am leaving it until nearer the time to book, in the hope that we might save some money
