Frank - If you are having problems, and tear your hair out over these damned high-tech gadgets,
how do you think ignoramuses like me feel at times?

Several times lately I have felt like chucking my laptop away, the only thing that stopped me was
the thought of losing Vocal Voices.

Why do these damn things have to be so complicated?

WM I am and always have been a nightmare with shoes.
If I can feel them on my feet then I won't buy them - unless I know, with absolute certainty, that they will only be worn to sit/stand/look pretty

My ugly walking sandals - new pair exactly the same as old pair - were put on and walked in for 5 miles, no problem at all. And that's not that my feet are tough, very far from it, it's that you can get shoes that good.
The Skechers trainers are much the same, you don't know you're wearing them. As for shoes that need to be worn in - no thanks, did enough of that with school shoes :evil:

It's my son's wedding next year and I saw these Oxford brogues in a shop in town - black with a sort of burgundy tint........ They had to be bought. :roll:

Di, in the 60s brogues and Dr Martens were the footwear for Mods, and we had a way of softening them up. It involved drinking a lot of water and passing the outcome into said footwear. :shock:

So yes, okay, there are a few occasions where Proper Shoes do have to be worn.

As for your methods, I've no idea, my dad used to spend hours with my Tuf school shoes rubbing/stretching the edges with vaseline = they still rubbed :roll:

Nowadays I'd go for the thick socks/wear indoors as much as poss option.

A girl I worked with had a hero for a husband - she'd also rather cleverly married someone with quite small feet - who would wear-in her shoes for her, around the house

There was a hilarious episode she used to recount when he answered the door to the vicar in a pair of bright blue high-heeled courts
