Holidays

Postby miasmum » 25 Oct 2014, 15:22

We haven't been away since our 4 nights in Alnwick back in March and as you all know this has been a difficult year. What with the change in Luke's seizures, the A&E admissions, the notice being served, getting the bungalow, getting a care team and moving him in. But finally we can think about us. Except Tim has just had a fortnight off, so he can't have any more time this side of Chrismas, and after Christmas he is having a student, so needs to be there then. But the other day he said student not coming until Feb so we could go in Jan. He has now said "it must be beginning of Jan" I said 10th, no thats middle of Jan, will have to be 3rd.

So you all know me and how much I love my Mevagissey, but when someone said where are you going, Tim said anywhere but Mevagissey. Now my reasons for wanting to go there are:-
We know the place so have no desire to go off and explore, which is just as well as the weather will probably be horrendous and everywhere will be closed. I just want a week away, to slob, watch Homes Under The Hammer, have a wander down to the harbour, a coffee, wander back, read my book and maybe not even go out every evening cook at home and watch the waves. So I see no point in going somewhere new and unexplored.

But I thought better show willing and as lovely Lozzles recommended Pembrokeshire, which does look lovely (for a Summer holiday) I was looking at a holiday let around that area. Under other information it said

If you are looking for a large stylish house sleeping up to 8 in a busy little bay, Port Mellon, Mevagissey in Cornwall, check out our other property, Spindrift E10208. 3 minutes to the beach, huge four poster bed and wood burner.

So there you go, its fate I tell you

But what do you think? Can you see my point or do you think my poor husband deserves to go somewhere else, even though he has no suggestions and moans about everywhere anyway

I would go for some Winter Sun to be honest Shell, this country in January is a bit chilly for holidays for me  Especially if my OH wouldn't let me go where I really wanted  ;)

A week away in the sun needn't cost much more than a decent cottage over here ;)

Going abroad isn't even in the equation. Wouldn't want to leave Luke at the moment. I am happy to go in this country. I love the winter, wrapping up and walking.

The apartment I am looking at is £450 for the week, not sure we would get abroad for that, especially as neither of us have passports, there's £200 nearly before you start

Ah well you could have just about done it without the passports, but you are right, factoring that cost in would push the expense right up!

Wales could be pretty wet and windy in winter Shell, where does Tim suggest? Seems a bit mean to dismiss your suggestions unless he has any bright ideas himself ;)

I'd say SW is your best bet. for the warmest weather and prettiest scenery ;) xxxxx

Snap - that's why we always head north, to Alnmouth :D :D :D Luckily we both love it, so no worries that one of us won't want to go - AGAIN!! I know what you mean MM about sitting with a book and not exploring Meva, but as we find, there are always new places to find wherever you go, and without wishing to sound offputting, you could do those things equally well at hime without spending any money at all.....the advantage of us going away is that T gets the chance to relax properly, if he is home, he gets involved with stuff which means we don't spend the time together, enjoying our time off.

Mind you I'm not sure I'd like to be anywhere in this country in January! :o We're booked in a cottage - guess where - in March, but January??
