Our little trip

Postby tonicha » 15 Oct 2014, 19:27

up to the Alentejo was lovely :D :D

We both love going up there, it's a completely different "feel" to home and the prople are just so friendly - more so than down here.

The drive up is over and done with in just over an hour and we stop in a very shabby cafe and have a coffee - for 55 cents - 80 cents here :o

We decided to drive up to the hamlet where this house we were supposed to be viewing is - and we won't be moving up there-. It's a long old haul and even longer coming back - as we thought we'd try a different way. Only for the lady who is hoping to sell to ask us to come back either at night - as she had to work - or on a week-end. (Why??? Our agent has a key, for when we're away)

The hotel was lovely - the bar we use were very happy to see us again   - only been 6 weeks since we were last there - and although it absolutely hammered down - it was warm.

And Grumpy bought me a new coat - I'd forgotten to take one

And last night, after dinner - the waiter was from Malaga Ally :D - we went to a bar to watch the rest of the footie - and they also made us so welcome.

Can't wait to move up there.

Any-one want to buy a house in Portugal???????

Did I mention that the bar we use is right next to the funeral parlour

And the owner came round, with his little truck, full of (live) cattle

Such a different - and old - way of life up there :D

We were happy in Sodding Chipbury, but everything is so much cheaper here - and the sun shines, sometimes too

The constant rain gets me down a bit, especially in the winter

I was thinking that this afternoon when I got caught in yet another downpour. We've only had a few days of rain after a long dry spell and already I've had enough of it!

Ton, it all sounds really lovely - and it seems that the bar owners will be happy when you move there too
