Christmas food delivery

Don't know if any of you get food delivered for Christmas but Waitrose have opened their slots up to Christmas now.

Tesco and Sainsburys are only taking bookings up until late October at the moment.

Ah, but you can book it and just put a few things in your trolley then go back to it nearer the time when you do know what you want.

I may change to Tesco or Sainsburys if I get a delivery slot from them when they open their lists but at least I have this one booked just in case. Last year I completely forgot to check the others until it was far too late but I still had the Waitrose one to fall back on. I can't bear food shopping for Christmas, it is just too busy out there.

Funnily enough, bought some vacuum-packed sweet chestnuts today for Christmas, but as they're ready-to-eat, I suspect they'll disappear during "Midsomer Murders" this evening ...

We don't tend to get a Christmas delivery in bulk, we just start gently shopping for all the non-perishables from mid-November onwards.

its for one day shops open boxing day
we all buy far to much any way
its just the s ame as cooking a roast sunday dinner
nobody ever wants tea
and a buffet for boxing day
i might be wrong
and if we buy stuff before hand it get eaten wbile watching tv on a boring saturday night
enjoy the sweet chest nuts tonight ossie

Knowing my luck it would be blizzards on the day of my order and every day after.....

I would be sat in on C'day in my nightgown, gloves, bedsocks and bobble hat and my candle near down to the wick......... just like last year.

I don't go crazy with the food shopping just a turkey and a few bits for a buffet on Christmas night for the four of us (although last year we went to my Mom and Dad's then so it was eaten over the course of a few days). Like you say Saundra, the shops are only closed for one day - to see some people walking around the supermarket you'd think they were closed for a month. I often wonder how much goes to waste
I've never done an online shop, I prefer to browse the shelves and my make choices then.

Absolutely agree Saundra, but it is because everyone else seems to be spending a small fortune that I avoid the supermarkets around Christmas if I can. We often go away after Christmas so I rarely want more than a couple of days worth.
