Houses for sale

For our homes and gardens

We have to get in the car for most things, if we want the sort of house we want.

The land on that house is a bit too much, but the local farmers will sort it out, you just pay them a few euros a year.

There is a small hamlet within walking ish distance, we'll be checking it out next week. There should be a cafe, maybe a shop and probably the meat/fish/bread/grocer man comes once a day :D

Very annoying

We'd arranged with the estate agent to view the house on Tuesday afternoon.

On Monday, we drove up - and it's a lot further up than we thought  - found the hamlet and the next village. Had a lovely caffee and chat with the lady of the cafe.

Back to Ourique to see our friends in the house we like - Grumpy more than me, but it's okay ;) - and then the agent rang.

Can we make it 7.00 and not 3.00.

Erm, no. It's getting dark - how are we supposed to see the land, the house and everything, in the dark?

So he suggested Saturday - if we'd like to drive back up, as you're only an hour away, in the Algarve. No I said, we won't be coming back up - it's a 4 hour round trip.

Grumpy said that it's fate - or something. We'd probably have loved it and it is a loooong drive, along some not so good roads, and try and make it work.

So we're back to square one

Right, we've narrowed it down to two.

I'll try and find the houses on the intweerweb thingy and hopefully post them on this one.

We've looked at this one many times, The problem was that it is only a two bed. But we know we can get it for 130,00 - as we have been chatting with the owners via e-mail. We can add an extra bedroom, with bathroom, for about 15,000.

And this one

Again, looked at it many times. But with this one, we know they won't move on the price and we'd have to buy the adjoining monte, with land. For about 5,000.

Both will need pools put in, about 15,000. The first one will be easier as it has soil, the other has rock.

The first is just outside small village, shop, restaurant etc and bars, the other is miles away from anything. But it does have a daily delivery man.

The first one is fully fenced and gated. The other will have to be, but you can't all the way around, as the top track is actually the road but it stops by the house.

The first one is newer, but the second has more insulation for the heat/cold.

The first has more land, but the olive trees are looked after by some-one from the village and the owners get about 5 litres of oil each year, plus it has loads of fruit trees.

The first one has it's own water, the second has to pay the town charges, about 10 euros a month.

The first one has been discounted by us many many times, but for some reason, we keep going back to it.

I've just added some more stuff Di - I got side-tracked.

What we've decided is that the third bedroom would be a stand alone one, with it's own en-suite and patio doors. Still attached to the house, but access is from outside.

That would leave us the main house to us and the other one for you and Bb when you come and stay 8-) 8-)
