We've booked the apartment in Menaggio on Lake Como for next July!! Sounds mental but we just loved the whole idea, and although they usually only book week on week, because it's the start of high season, she is letting us have it for 10 days. It's very simple and Italian, but we know exactly where it is, a few minutes from the lakeside, with nice food shops nearby and most importantly, some lovely places selling icecream ;) Not done this kind of holiday before but we already know we will enjoy it, it's a very beautiful place with great walks in the area, and ferries to all sorts of other lovely places around the lake.

I suppose mental as we are booking so far in advance, Di - when we were there before it was only for four days and we always wanted to go back and spend more time. We'll have a lot of fun over the winter researching it all. The flights are a good price now too so we might book them soon - half the fun of a holiday is the planning

Ooh no, not at all Osc, grab it when you can :)
Half the fun - absolutely, before you go - then once you get there, being there is 100% of the fun ;) :D

ETA - when you look at reviews on tripadvisor, homeaway or holidaylettings, it's amazing how many people say they've already booked for the following year ;)

A sort of viewing yesterday ;) A friend from England (her hub lives here) brought a work colleague, who has a house in the west, for some German friends. She loved it, took down all the details, thought we were very reasonably priced and they will be in touch :D

After seeing our surname, she said "but you're German" no, I said, we're English, explained the Grumpy family side but she insisted we're German

Lovely breakfast :D :D

Three chicken sausages, 4 rashers of bacon, one piece fried bread and an egg, for himself, along with a glass of port - as you do ;)
