A question about breathing.

Postby Workingman » 25 Sep 2014, 12:54

I know that is a necessity for life, so I do it every day, but I have a question about it.

When I breathe through my nose it is very rarely that both sides work, it is usually one nostril or the other. Does anyone else find this or am I an evolutionary freak?

unless one side is blocked because of hayfever or a cold then I breathe through both sides which I'd have thought is the norm? :?

Just a thought - is one side a lot worse than t'other? Do you breathe through your mouth a lot? Might be nasal polyps ... usually treated by a steroid-based spray.

Alternatvely, try eating that banana rather than sticking it ......

One nostril being blocked and sometimes the other one is an early symptom of rhinitis.

Unless it has always been that way I would agree it is either nasal polyps or rhinitis.....

I have a deviated septum so mouth breathe pretty much all the time - that's what makes visits to the dentist a bit of a trial :?

My dentist is always telling me to breathe through my nose.
I don't know if it is anything to do with my breathing but I wake up in the night as I dribble from my mouth onto the pillow.

I suffer from that at times as well, Cruiser - I've always put it down to senility!
