Kettles packing up is an occupational hazard in this household. We never seem to be able to find one that lasts more than a year to 18 months. Mind you, it does get some use ....

We have just had to get a new kettle.
Went on line to see what was available. Found one we liked so went to our local Curry store. ONly had one which was on display. Got another 5% off the sale price. It has a glass bowl with blue lights at the bottom to show if it is switched on.

Looks much better than the old one.

My oven is as old as the house (about 7 or 8 years) and I hope it lasts a while yet. It might help if I cleaned it more often, I suppose

Have to replace my hot water cylinder but can`t shift the element which now takes an excessive current. Don`t fancy the job and my usual plumber is in Australia.
So looking for a non cowboy type one.

I think it's a common ploy nowadays for manufacturers to make sure that their
products do not last too long. (In the 'good old days' household gadgets would
last a lifetime.) This is the cost of living in an affluent society.

Our oven and hob are over 20 years old. Had to have a local firm out as the element in the top oven had become loose. Only cost £10.00 which I though was reasonable. Saved having to buy a new woven
