It's WAR!

I went for a walk this afternoon and at one point I though that my jacket collar had caught in the late stubble on my neck, then it did it again, then again!

When I got home it was still giving me bother and a look in the mirror revealed three lumps where I had been STUNG! So, I hereby give warning to any Jaspers out there that WAR is declared.

This year there will be no time for them to sort themselves out, no windows open to shoo them away. This year they WILL be splatted on sight - no questions asked. They will be swiftly dispatched to Wasp Hell where they will be stinging and be stung by each other till the end of time.

You know, I've never heard that nickname for a wasp, before .... is it a Yorkshire thing?

Not sure Ossie. I had a Vespa scooter and vespa is Italian for wasp. Because of their sound Vespas were known as Jaspers...... bzuzzz, zzz, zzz, zzz, bzuzzz...... so maybe it is a corruption.

And, yes, three stings. They have all now merged into one great itchy lump.

Seriously, ouch! I got stung last year when a wasp flew up my skirt That made me jump

I'm actually looking like heaven knows what - three bites on the right of my forehead, one on the left and one on the left eye-lid

Not to mention one on my leg and one on the back of my neck.

I'm petty good at swatting flying things that bite WM - I have a lethal backhand - just have to feel the blasted things biting first.

You have to be sure of what it was to know how to treat it/them though
Bicarb for bees and vinegar/acid for wasps, remove bee stings, not wasps...

And this evening I felt something on my arm and it was a huge mozzie, brushed it off but it had already struck

A few years ago, I had a brief encounter with wasps. Beyond our back garden was waste land, on which
several young silver birch trees were growing. I decided that, as these would eventually block a lovely view,
I would chop them down before they grew too big, so I climbed over the 3 foot fence armed with a small axe.
As I started hacking at the base of the first tree, I was surrounded and attacked by a host of ants who had
nested beneath it. I took to my heels, followed by a host of wasps, and my wife said I cleared the boundary
fence like an Olympic athlete. I was quite ill for some time afterwards, because of the multiple stings I had
received, and had to see my GP.

there was a nest in her dressing gown they had got in through a uncealed pipe
she ended up in a/e next day with cellulitis

That reminded me of a time when I was a teenager, playing an informal game of rounders with a group of friends. The ball landed in a thorn bush, I went to gingerly retrieve it from the bush, and my hand came out with the tennis ball but covered in wasps! Aggers, you may have cleared your boundary fence like an Olympic athlete, but I tell you I out-sprinted Usain Bolt that day!! I think I got away with just two stings on my hand - it was Autumn and luckily they were fairly docile.
