I've never had that problem.

I assume you have the printer switch on, connected to your PC and have loaded the printer's disc into your computer.

Instead of clicking 'Print', try pressing Ctrl + P

Vic, it will probably be in printer preferences, or similar. from within W7 or W8 or Vista.

Go to Control Panel, Devices and Printers and find your Epson. Right click and in properties look for something like printer preferences. You should be able to set default folders, resolution, colour or B/W and so on. You might have to play around to get it your way.

Try running the installer again. You might get a Repair option or an Unintall option from the Epson install CD.

I was looking at this online and it seems to be a problem with Epsom. Try going to Control Panel->Programs->Uninstall and uninstall the Epsom software.

If that works.

Once you have got it uninstalled, the drivers start page is here. It should auto detect your OS and allow you to download the correct drivers.

I note that pretty much all OS' are in the list including, incredibly, windows 3.x!!!

If the CD/programs won't allow you to uninstall, you may be able to do it from the device manager. Click on Start then Right click on Computer and select manage.

In the devices tab you should be able to see your printer. There you can right click and uninstall.

If none of that works and you need to get into safe mode, you can do this most easily by going to start, run or search and typing in msconfig

change to the boot tab and select Safe Boot. You'll need to do the same again to stop it safe booting. In safe mode you can use the same instructions I gave you above to uninstall the printer.

Other advice gets incredibly technical incredibly quickly....

Still sounds totally bizarre. I've never seen that.

My Brother printer works similar to the Epson. Hitting print brings up a new window with tabs. The default is B/W Text, then Mixed, Magazine and Photo.

If the print is Text I just hit OK. If it is any of the others I click the tab then OK. All the default parameters for each tab had to be set by me when I first set up the printer.

If I want to temporarily change things in each tab for each job I can do so before hitting OK.
