Trousers for a wedding

Postby miasmum » 21 Sep 2014, 11:26

I was going to post this on the boutique, but I would welcome some of our more mature posters outlook please.

Next Friday I am going to my neighbours wedding. It is a fairly quiet affair, church then back to their house. They are both in their 70's so I don't want to offend them but would it be ok to wear trousers?

I have a lovely lime green linen top and I was going to wear that with my smart navy trousers?

Would that me ok do you think?

I can be mature when I put my mind to it ;)

I think that sounds fine, I doubt very much they would consider that inappropriate Shell, and at least you would be covered up! Half of the female guests at weddings these days look more suitably attired for clubbing rather than a wedding!

I think trousers are fine. As long as you look smart (and you always do) you will look lovely. I wore trousers and a jacket to a wedding back in the 90's and I never even thought it might be considered the wrong thing to do.

I wouldn't normally but I think it is the fact they are older and might be expecting hats and frocks

Shell, people in their 70s would have been the teenagers of the 1960s, think on that.

They will probably be more accepting of 'the modern way' than you are thinking.

Lime green top with navy trousers sound lovely... and you could still wear a hat if you wanted to. :D

Sounds good to me too :D

Why wear something you're not too comfy in? as some people do, when going to weddings.

As one of the more senior members here, I can assure you that trousers on a woman
are quite acceptable to the older generation, provided they are worn with tasteful
upper-wear. I am surrounded here with retired ladies, and quite a few of them often
wear trousers, and, I must say, look very smart.
