Figs: pick 'em just before they are ripe, wash the bloom off and leave on a sunny windowsill till they go all soft and squidgy. Place in the centre of a bowl of Ambriosia rice pud and dive in.
Melons: Using a cartridge refill syringe inject with *pick your favourite alcohol* and leave for a few days then eat on the veranda while watching the sun go down.

Actually managed to find some creme fraiche this morning and also bought some of our local fresh cheese and a pastry base (I can't make pastry but my bread is lovely ) so we'll have fig flan tonight.
