Mali, Syria, France and the UK.

French troops are on the ground in Mali to attempt to turn the tide against Islamic militants. They are being supported by the RAF Transport Command for logistical purposes. Meanwhile, over in Syria and with the French working behind the scenes, we are about to supply arms to a hodge-podge of an army taking part in a civil war and which is made up of groups of.... Islamic militants. You could not make it up.

France has stepped up its internal security because it is fearful of terrorist attacks because of its action in Mali.

Indeed. We are not getting the full story here, about Mali or Syria.
For instance I have never believed that the "Arab spring" was entirely the people rebelling against their rulers. Imo the West (for whatever reasons) wanted regime changes in the area. "Be careful of what you wish for, it may come true" should be borne in mind, maybe?

Why are we assisting the French? I'm darn sure they wouldn't assist us if Argentina invaded the Falklands again ....

What is Cameron trying to prove? we can not support our own forces let alone support the bloody French, better if we kept our noses out of what is going on.. A friend stated twenty years ago" Islam will rule the world" and Britain would be one of the first to come under it's yolk.. Don't know about that but the Brotherhood is truly on the move in that direction, I lay the destabilization of these countries down to Blair and Bush invading Iraq, creating turmoil and for every terrorist killed there will be a hundred more recruits to take his or her place world wide..
