We're back!!!

Cor what a fabulous weekend!!!!!! :D :D

It didn't start out too well when the drive down took us 5 hours instead of 2.5 thanks to roadworks round Bristol, then the flipping sat nag sent us up every cart track in Somerset when we missed the turn off the M5 by Taunton Dean  We were in Devon at one point :o :?  But on the plus side the last part of that long detour meant the drive down the Jurassic coast with some wonderful views including Lyme Regis, Chesil Beach etc and we got there in time for dinner which was the main thing

After dinner we went up to a local beauty spot to look at the amazing view out over the bay, then back to sit in their lovely garden room extension drinking wine, chatting and laughing until after 1.30 am   My head hit the pillow and I was dead to the world until breakfast time   Poached duck eggs on toast (cooking method not stolen :P ) then a fabulous walk over the Nothe (really quite hilly) down into Weymouth itself for a lovely walk around the harbour then down to the beach, where we had a small snack lunch before walking back to the harbour. We decided to take the ferry across which is actually a rowing boar rowed by a really old man, which made me guilty for eating lunch    Then a walk back, more hills  My calf muscles are killing me today

Back home then, via J's allotment which looks out over Lyme Bay, to prepare for the BBQ, Mick's other brother and his fiancée and youngest son came, and as J and J's (our hosts) eldest lad was home for the weekend with his girlfriend we were quite a family party :D :D We had an earlier night and were in bed by 12.30 :P  This time I drank rather less wine, but Mick had a skinfull and I had to push him up the stairs from behind to get him up to bed   He was very quiet this morning but we all managed more duck eggs, then a walk around Portland Bill which was very windy indeed, then a coffee break at Portland Marina, sat outside in the sun, watching the coastguard helicopter take off :D :D Finally a lovely Sunday lunch of chicken, home grown salad, and jacket spuds followed by delicious home made trifle and we were on our way home by 4pm........the tip home took two hours and was a breeze :D :D :D

The sun shone all weekend, my face is bright red as I forgot to pack my sunscreen 8-)   I look like a blonde tomato

That sounds just perfect, apart from the journey down. Our sat nag (love it) is only happy when sending us up roads with grass up the middle!!............even if it runs parallel with a motorway! Sometimes I have to speak sternly to her and say we are going a different way ;)

  We switched her off on the return journey ;) It was simple without her - from Weymouth to Dorchester, Dorchester to Yeovil, then follow the signs for the M5 home

Sounds a lovely weekend Kaz, glad you had a such a lovely time.

We have two sat nags, one in each car. Popsy, in Tim's car will never deviate, to avoid traffic, she loves towns and shops. Dorothy in my car is the complete opposite, she will have you through fields, up grassy lanes. One snowy night she took us off the M6 and through the Penines.
