The ignoring didn't work!
It was overcast this morning so we went for a wander round Perranporth then at 12pm decided to head to the beach.
We always go to the same beach - Trevanance Cove - as it has everything there you need - chips, drinks, loos, a pub and hunky life guards - but mainly because Mick doesn't "do" the beach so he can drop us off and we can walk home as it's 10 minutes walk from the cottage.
We arrived. We set up near the walk way down to the beach as that would mean we got more time as the tide was coming in. I helped the girls get their wet suits on, got my chair out and hadn't even sat down in when they appeared above me on the walk way.
They'd obviously come looking for us as they had no beach stuff with them, just what they were stood in. After about an hour I said if she wanted to go and get towels and change of clothes I would keep an eye on the boys (and be able to read my book). So she disappeared with her hubby for a couple of hours.
I feel mean as the kids all had a lovely time and I do like Mr and Mrs Stalker but when I'm on the beach I just want to sit and people watch or read my book, not make conversation. And her kids are really high maintenance, mine just don their wetsuits, grab their body boards and only come back for food or drink. Her youngest (aged 11, just about to start secondary school) kept coming back to tell me he'd hurt himself on this that or the other. He soon realised he would only get sympathy from me if he was either drowning or missing a limb.
She's already talking about meeting up tomorrow. I did warn her I would be reading if we were there but we wouldn't decide what to do until the morning so I wasn't making any plans.
Life begins at the end of your comfort zone!
