I spoke to Oliver's preschool this afternoon about glasses, and they have a really good policy, so I'm thinking we will go ahead and see what happens. We can always put them away till after summer if his not coping with them, then we have 6 months till he starts school.

Good afternoon all, I just heard the weather forecast on Radio 2 and it's warm and bright across Central areas, strange that - it's been pouring down for the last two hours
I might get a nap this afternoon. I was up until gone 3am, watching the football. A pre-season 'friendly', Man Utd v Liverpool, being played in Miami.

Kaz, I've just ordered a poppy too. I'm not aware of our family losing anyone in WW1 but my Dad lost his much-loved cousin in WW2 which was very sad because his wife was pregnant when he was killed and therefore his son grew up without ever meeting his father. The installation looks absolutely stunning, we're planning a day in London in the next couple of months so I plan to go along to the Tower to see it in person.

Afternoon all, it was a miserable start weather wise, but has improved somewhat - a bit too chilly though Been busy with bits and bobs this morning, phone calls and so on, and a nice long phone chat with a dancing friend. The mapping expert is coming tomorrow so hopefully the boundary issue will be sorted soon and our sale can go ahead.

I've been trying for ages to decide what to do with my aunt's mink coat and stole - both of which I love but which are obviously not often worn. I've been holding on to the coat with a vague idea of maybe having it made into a jacket, but realistically that would be very expensive and I just didn't want to give it to Oxfam. I had a little brainwave this morning, and have decided to donate it to the costume department of the world famous Abbey Theatre - I phoned them and they are delighted, so I will be heading off shortly to deliver the two fur items to them. This evening I hope to finish a little baby cardigan, as I'd like to knit at least one more before the baby arrives and things could be very busy in the coming month if all goes well with the house. Oh Osc what a smashing idea to give the mink to a theatre.

When I was doing my drama I played the part of Lottie Grady from When We Are Married and my costume consisted of a fur jacket (and a boa..she was a floozy! ) which made me feel rather racy.

I remember my aunt Bunty having a full length fur coat - I thought she was soooo glamorous.

I always felt fab in the fur coat, Ally, it was so warm and cosy but it made me itch around my neck!

We ended up having a very nice afternoon - brought the furs to the theatre warehouse. The young woman who took them was really nice, said the furs were lovely and told me they do get used, plus they do costume rental for films and various arts productions, so who knows where they might turn up! In the same industrial estate, there is a well-known bathroom place, so we had a mooch around there getting some ideas. Our road home brought us past Ikea and although we are not great fans, I wanted to go to the loo, he fancied a free coffee, and we had another mooch which was more productive of ideas than we thought. Home now, just had very nice pasta with smoked salmon and settling down for the evening.
