It is a lot to pay out Osc, I'd take it as a positive sign that they don't intend to back out.
Really, really hope the ultimatum works and that contracts will be signed very soon (((((Osc)))))

Oh I'm nearly in tears here with frustration, Miss Osc does feel that this could have been sorted out weeks ago - the so-called mapping expert was supposed to be looking at it while we were away, but apparently the purchasers baulked at paying that money (I would too) and so they went back to the original surveyor......and guess what, their solicitor wasn't happy. What happens if their solicitor won't accept what the "expert" says? When Miss Osc phoned him this morning, he appeared to be on the phone to his clients, and she felt he was getting a bit of a b*llocking from them!! He has to issue a guarantee to the bank for their finance, and there is a way he could do this by qualifying his guarantee, Miss Osc says it's very standard and the banks don't raise objections - he said last week he would do this but then changed his mind

Not that this helps your situation at all Osc   but when we were buying this house the owners were having problems getting the owners of their new house to close the deal..the upshot was we stood to nearly lose this house which we absolutely didn't want to happen.

Anyway..off I go into the estate agents office for a good old moan.

These were the days when smoking was done in banks, buildings, etc and the female estate agent was sitting there chuffing away on her fag when I was having a rant.

Her response???!! I swear on all I hold dear this was her response:

Oh sit down and have a sweet!!! And promptly offered me a sweet from the little glass bowl on her desk! :o :o

Said sweets were then threatened to be shoved up her ar*e if she didn't sort this out now was my response!!

We signed within 48 hours.

Osc, that solicitor sounds like a right idiot. He's not related to this mapping expert by any chance is he? He sounds a bit keen to use this expensive expert when a different expert has already been and done the job!
