The Commonwealth Games.

Postby Aggers » 31 Jul 2014, 22:19

In spite of the somewhat doubtful Opening Ceremony, I must say that I have enjoyed watching the
various sports, and am pleased to see that England has been doing quite well.

One thought has struck me when watching some of the throwing field events. During my working life
the health and safety of workers workers was one of my duties, which is not really the joke that it is
sometimes classed as. I am referring to the fact that, at these sports events, for the persons out in
the field for the purpose of measuring the lengths of the throws, there is clearly a foreseeable risk of
being injured by the items being thrown. Yet not once have I seen one wearing a safety hat.
What has happened to the Health & Safety Executive Inspectors? There's an accident waiting to happen.

Just ignore this if you think I'm stupid.

Not stupid at all Aggers, I don't often watch atheltics but on the few times I've watched field events I've been amazed at how close those doing the measuring are to the action

I expect they know what they're doing, but it does look a bit scary sometimes :?
