We went to see it on Tuesday and it was stunning. I was completely mesmerised from the minute it started, and I found it very much easier to follow the story than when it is on the stage. For us, there was the additional poignancy of seeing Colm Wilkinson playing the bishop and being almost the last person you see at the finale. He was the original Jean Valjean and here in Ireland, we are enormously proud of him. I heard him interviewed over the weekend, and he approached Cameron Mackintosh asking to play the bishop, as he felt it would round the circle for him, and be a very fitting way for him to finish his involvement - he was in on the original stage production from the start.
Every performance was brilliant, I even thought Russell Crowe was very good. It was a stroke of genius to have them all sing live to camera, it made all the "main" songs so emotional......I just loved it.
