We're home!

Postby Gal » 19 Jul 2014, 17:30

Had a fantabulous few days in Alnwick and surrounding areas - namely our beloved Alnmouth (already trying to book a cottage there for this time next year!) We were late booking this year so couldn't get a cottage for the dates we had. making sure that's not the case again - hotels are fine but we love the freedom of our own place :D Trying for here

We spotted it this morning when we called into Alnmouth for breakfast (hotel was room only :| ) looks gorgeous and so close to that gorgeous beach 8-) This is where we stayed this time

We'd paid for a Superior room but unfortunately it was on the front and a very busy street, and as the weather was warm we had to have the windows open......after the second night of no sleep I saw the young manageress and asked if we could be moved to a room at the back....she managed to rejig the book and we had Room 5, a smaller but far quieter room, I never normally speak out but was SO glad I had!! :D We've had the best time, walking, lazing on that beach on the sunniest day of our stay, and yesterday we took a walk round to Alnwick Castle

and called into the town's church - was very peaceful and humbling :|

Just HAD to go back one last time to Alnmouth this morning, it's only 4 miles from Alnwick, so we had a last walk along the beach and a teacake and latte in our favourite cafe, I bought a couple of souvenir books about the area and a Northumberland teatowel, and we got back shortly after lunch, it only takes an hour from there to here :)

Glad you had a lovely time, I can't bear being in a hotel, I love my own space.

This was our apartment in Alnwick Gal

Sounds lovely Gal, I much prefer our own place too but sometimes it's the best deal - and hotel rooms are always so hot!
