Putting things into perspective.

:( :(

I've just had a long conversation with one of my bezzies, Jo.

One of her friends is a woman called Wendy. She is 42, a full time junior teacher, married, two children (girls aged 12 and 14) and is super, super fit. She cycles, fell races and is often away for weekends doing really basic hiking in really exposed places. Super, duper fit.

Two weeks ago today she went out cycling with her family. She started to get terrible stomach cramps and they took her to hospital as she was in so much pain. They went to the hospital at Mansfield as it was closest to where they were. She was admitted as they didn't know what was wrong.

By the Wednesday the doctors had decided it was a blocked colon (or something along those lines) and decided to operate. During the operation they accidentally nicked the bowel. A couple days later she developed an infection and then developed C-Diff.

She passed away on Wednesday - they couldn't get enough antibiotics into her to fight off the infection.

Such sad, sad news. And it really does make you think doesn't it - one minute you're out there, happily leading your life and the next..........

This is certainly food for thought.

How terribly sad.

It certainly puts some of our little problems into perspective.
