How about flamingos land near York
It used to annoy me when we had to pay and never went on anything

Debih,
Saw an article in DM recently about Alton Towers. It said the wait for rides could be about two hours. They worked out the cost of each ride dividing the cost of the entrance fee by the number of rides. Not cheao. Over 330 per person per ride. Final comment was that it was not worth the expense.

Regarding Drayton Manor, Have been on some of the rides for free. They were clients of ours when I was working. The rides were tested each day before the paying public were admitted. That was in my younger days.

Have a good day out

It's been six years since we last went as a family, and two weeks previous to that we'd been in California and spent 3 days at Disneyland. Alton Towers was a HUGE disappointment after that. It was an off-peak weekend but the queuing times for the popular rides was two hours. Of course, they do Fastrack tickets but you have to pay extra for those. At Disney you go up to a machine, put your entry ticket in and you get a free Fast Pass to join a short queue.
I've just looked to see what Alton Towers actually do for that. For The Smiler you can buy a Fastrack ticket which allows you to book a time slot for one ride on the rollercoaster. The cost? From £10. Yes, £10 on top of the extortionate entry price to bypass the longer queue for a single ride.

Yes but...she's already promised them :?

I wasn't trying to be unkind Debih, am just always too aware of money to do that.
How bothered are the girls, given that they have both been anyway?
Could you come up with something that would cost a lot less, but they might both (and their friends) really enjoy, and present it as an alternative?
Or even tell them the realistic budget and get them to research something?

Oh I can always unpromising it.

I didn't actually promise we would go, just promised I would think about us going. I'm not daft. Lol.

I know you weren't being unkind Di - I'd never promise them anything without checking it out first!

I think we might do a day at the sea side instead. Or either go just the 3 of us which will be much cheaper. If they want to take friends, then their friends must pay!
