What do you do about / with slugs?

I can't handle the beer thing Kaz, it's such a truly disgusting sluggy mess inside

I've resorted to pellets - while we were away they ate almost an entire (new) shrub I hate the idea they might harm the birds though, I've only actually put them out a couple of times - mostly I scout round the garden and pick the slugs and snails up on a shovel, put them all in a carrier bag, tie it up and sling them in the dustbin

Ria might not mind though, and it's more humane than some ways of killing them

Straight in the compost bin, at the old houses! It's all organic

We haven't had a slug problem here yet.....touch wood!!!!

LOL Kaz, i definitely seem to have homing slugs - I lose count how many I collect in the mornings. I have tried the beer traps, they are very good - and the slugs die happy - but as Di says they are a horrendous mess and quite gross to clean up (but then I did forget about them at times - eeewwwwwwwwwwwwww). But definitely something to re-consider once my fence is replaced as my compost bin is tucked away in the corner of the garden behind the shed and it's not really reachable now because it's all blocked off to stop the cats from escaping out the gap of the broken fence. I hadn't thought about chucking them in the compost to be honest

Di, if you get the organic slug pellets, they apparently don't harm wildlife, birds and pets. I'm going to do a bit more reading up on them, but that may well be one way to control the horrid things

And I'll definitely get some Nemaslug - that is 100% safe for everything

I had to search a bit to get organic pellets. The supermarkets and pound shops all sell them, but they are the poisonous ones. I eventually got the right sort at the garden centre.

Organic slugs, now they do sound delish, especially if you have no compost heap Di.
