Miss Osc texted me to say she came home from work to a not very well little boy - SIL said he had been not too bad during the day but had a very red ear, and had eaten a little pasta for his tea, but he was still hot and very unsettled in himself. They will see how he is in the morning and maybe get him to a doctor in case there is an ear or throat infection, as they are going on holiday next Wednesday. It's always something, isn't it :( They are supposed to be going to a wedding tomorrow, and Michael will be so upset if he doesn't have his sleepover with us! Still, children can bounce back so easily and maybe we could look after him in his own house if necessary.

Oh Osc, a red ear sounds familiar :(
Bb's youngest had endless ear infections, we got to know all too well - please do tell her to get straight to the doc's in the morning if it's still like that, and certainly if he says his ear hurts, because the good thing is it usually clears really fast once they're treated.
Having said that, he could just as easily be right as rain!

I'm quite sure he'll be fine by Wednesday, and as for tomorrow, I guess that depends on whether they're happy to leave him with you. Bb used to insist he got the children for the weekend regardless (obviously if it was actually something properly serious that would've been different) and tbh it was never any real problem (the famous non-stop projectile vomiting weekend included lol, but that didn't start till we already had them) :D x

They won't treat ear infections here any more. Apparently there's no strong evidence that antibiotics clear it up any faster, and if the ear drum is in danger or bursting, then they just put a nick in it to let the fluid out!!!    thankfully I've not been in that bad a situitation yet with the kids, but if I was I'd be off to another doctor to try for anti'bs.

We have found though a roasted onion works fantastically well. Roast with skin on, then squeeze juice out, wait till it has cooled to body temp, then put a few drops in the ear canal. Must be body temp, no hotter or colder. We also put some on the neck around the ear and massage downwards. Seems to get rid of the pain within an hour.

Hope he feels better soon.
