Steam Irons

The sole plate on the steam iron mrs.e uses has become dis-coloured. We have tried to clean it but nothing seems to work.

So we are going to invest in a new one.
What make and model do you use?

I have the first one, a Russell Hobbs Steamglide.
But I used to have the 2nd one, a Philips Azure, which I have to say is twice the price but twice as good
It suddenly died one day, so I went to Robert Dyas where I could pick them all up - some are surprisingly heavy, so I picked a light one; also this one has a nice big hole to pour the water in
This one's very good, just not as good as the Philips.

I have an old iron I bought years back from a place called Tschibo (not sure anyone remembers them). I hardly ever iron so hardly use it.

But my brother and SIl have one of those big steam generator irons (not sure of the make though) looks similar to these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Steam-Generator ... e=11712411 and they swear by it. If you do lots of ironing it apparently really reduces the time you spend ironing. They woudn't go back to a normal steam iron anymore

I'm on my second steam generator iron, a Morphy Richards 3300 Steam Elite, really like this kind of iron.

I read this yesterday and meant to go and look at my iron as I couldn't remember what brand it is - but I forgot

I think it is a Russell Hobbs, but will go and look in a bit

I was wrong, the last one was a Russell Hobbs, this one is a Breville Technique It's perfectly adequate but nothing special

Mine's a Morphy and the way I use it it will be handed down to my children as a working antique.

I have a Hinari from Netto a while ago for the huge sum of £4.50. Fine but not used very often and only for linen hankies and serviettes in a rash moment.
