This is long - I'm setting the scene!
Our TV in the lounge is watched through the internet and works fantastically.
The TV in the telly room is just on the Spanish aerial and works fine too. Normally.
Last night with the Brazil Chile game Conor said the reception had started to break up a bit.
Now picture the scenario:
I'm lying by the pool, minding my own business, drink in one hand, book in the other when a 'movement' on the roof catches my eye.
It's only bl**dy Don up there fiddling with the aerial.
He then shouts down to me (and I mean shout - it's a long way down!) something that I can't hear.
I then shout up (and I mean shout - it's a long way up!) that I can't hear him!
Through comical hand movements (and a rude from me! ) we agree to meet in the house.
We meet.
Cave Man leads me into the telly room, puts the TV on and sure enough the picture is a bit distorted.
By the look on his face you'd think it was something really, really bad...this World Cup has a lot to answer for!
Will I help him, he asks. Sure, I reply.
Cave Man then asks if I'll go up on the roof, fiddle with the aerial whilst he stands monitoring the situation.
Nooo, I squeak! It's far too hot up there, it's nearer to the sun and I'll fry!
(I'd just like to say I've been on the roof before but not in temps of 39 degrees! )
Ok mutters Cave Man. I'll go up, you stay in the telly room and I'll phone you on your mobile and you let me know how the picture is as I'm twiddling!
So he's on the roof, I'm in the telly room...next minute the door bell goes.
I go to answer it - leaving my mobile on the sofa - and it's Paulo our neighbour asking why is Don on the roof and is there a problem he can help with.
(I'm far too polite to tell him what I really wanted to say.)
We then both go to the telly room - I pick up my mobile only to see I've missed 2 calls from Cave Man.
My phone rings - it's Cave Man asking me where I've been.
I explain what happened and resist telling Cave Man to shut it as he starts to have a moan!
By this time Conor (who I'm blaming for the whole thing!) has joined myself and Paulo in the telly room.
So there we are, me with my mobile stuck to my ear yelling: yes, no, aah, nope, breaking up a bit, perfect! no! gone again! oh that looks....no, oh wait. That's it. That's it. Yes. Perfect. Hurrah!!
Conor goes out to watch Don get down from the roof, I go with Paulo to the gate to see him out....just as Jacob walks in the gate and asks the question:
Hi...have I missed anything?!
And you wonder why I'm bonkers!
