Rose keeps telling me to contact the agent - but if there is any news, he'll be in touch.

Dirk rang me last night, about 8.00. The sale of our house will only go ahead if he can sort out next door.

They are insisting on a 75,000 euro deposit and the sale to be completed within a month. This is just not done in Portugal. And as they have had their house on the market, off and on, for 5 years, we both think they are being completey stupid.

He is going to their house in Faro this morning to try and talk some sense into them. And as he is not their agent, that is really very kind, as it is only us who is paying him.

The French man, Michel, who wants to buy our house is coming round later this morning. Dirk doesn't speak French, neither do we, so I'm going to have to ask one of our neighbours to do the translating.

if and it is a very big if - it all goes ahead, we can sign contract next Wednesday.

Dirk has all our paperwork sorted, the neighbours haven't done anything  about theirs and the little Portuguse/French man our prospective buyers keep bringing with them and wants us to pay half of his commission, does nowt either. He is just complicating the issue.

Confused.com continues................

Oh my goodness Ton what a difficult situation :o

Your neighbours sound really awkward, surely they can see things aren't done that way in Portugal :? You'd think as they've been trying to sell for so long they'd be grateful to get it all sorted, honestly some people really amaze me :? Confused.com indeed...........

I really hope it can all be resolved, will keep everything crossed for you ((((((Ton)))))) xxx

Now THAT, I wasn't expecting  . Given their behaviour I really would have thought they'd be non-local.

Ton, fingers, toes and paws crossed that Dick can talk some sense into the owners and that this sale goes through! As a matter of interest; that one month completion date your neighbours are insisting on; is that even achievable? And if yes - how would that affect you?
