i dread to think how much we have actually spent doing council /housing assc
places up
it must be 1,000s
plus garden patios and fences
and my next move will be the same
watching programs on tv give a majority of tennants a bad name
this estate here is well kept and good tennants but we pay
for the upkeep of paths and verges to be mentained by h/a as well
good luck to luke you will manage you will probably be very surprissed how friends and workmates
will give you if you are prepared to accept it
if luke ever wants to do a swap with anouther tennant usually carpets and fitting are left we did that here

I know that the majority of tenants are incredibly good tenants Saundra and its the minority that give some a bad name.

Our housing officer spends 95% of her time dealing with 5% of our tenants!

Sadly, nightmare tenants make much better viewing than good ones.

yes you are right deb it just makes my blood boil
MM my J brought a starter kit from ikea of kitchen stuff (pots pan s cutlery and stuff it was really cheap i think argos do one as well
even better when we helped our eldest buy his house
i off loaded alot of my stuff on to him
and brought us new

Thanks all I will look into grants. I know our local electrical store do a starter pack, so I might look into that. He needs a freestanding cooker with an induction hob though and they don't come cheap.

Gal I remember you telling me about that, having to clear your mam's house so very quickly. I thought at the time it seemed a bit brutal, but having had to clear mum and dad's place - and we left it for two months - I realise just how very hard that must have been!!! xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Saundra you are so right, the vast majority of tenants are good tenants but the few give a bad name, and as Debih said it doesn't make for good TV

I am searching for grants Jo. Our income won't make any difference he is an adult so will apply in his own right.

He has a small amount of savings to his name and that is it

Shell there is also Freecycle and Gumtree - it's amazing the quality of some of the stuff that people get rid of.........

Thanks all. This might seem silly but I do want him to have as much new stuff as we can afford. It would be different if he were starting off with a partner, then I'd say, you have to work for it like we did and until then second hand won't kill you. But this is it for Luke he can't save, he can't move on and improve his lot himself, so I want him to have the best we can afford. I know that sounds silly
