Very wise. :)

Best of luck

I'd ask them for commission for intruding them to the neighbours, ;)

Doesn't really work that way Weka. But as I've told our neighbours to contct our agent (they were trying to sell privately, knew nothing about the energy certificate or anything else that was needed  ) I hope that our agent will look after us. Sadly, I can't think he'd drop even a centime from his commission ;)

Fantastic news, Ton, so pleased for you :D :D You've been waiting a long time for this.

That's the stage we are at now, except that we have lots and lots of stuff already packed up. How long does the whole process take with you? If we could get contracts signed and exchanged with deposit paid, we could have the sale closed maybe within a month of that happening.

All sorts of stuff going on

Came round with the builder this morning, they love our house, the lady was almost in tears when she found out what we were leaving.

The sticking point is next door.

it is normal here to pay 10% of the house price as a deposit and sign a contract. You then agree a time for the completion. We have agreed between 15 December and 15 January.

Next door want 75,000 euro up front, as the prospective purchasers need their family to move almost immediately.

Now, they cannot afford 85,000 this week.

So they have gone to see our English neighbour, who has signed a contract with the Belgium bloke who also saw ours. BUT no money has yet changed hands - they're there now.

Confused??? We grabbed different neighbours, as we needed French, Portuguese and English speakers.

It's out of our hands. I know they want our house, but also need their family close by.

I'm going for another beer
