The a&e I went too also doubles as a normal gp practice as well, just not our normal practice. We have a national database, and each child has a well child book (that lists all their immunisations, dates, batches. + height, weight, and any health anythings. Kind of like taking your notes with you. It means you can go anywhere. At his age though the well child book is pretty much only for immunisations, it gets filled out with the other stuff when they are babies).
The national database means the authorities can keep track of the immunisations, and the book is mums record, if that makes sense. It also means the data will be automatically fed into my gp's records for my child. (I know cause I helped set all this up 16 years ago, though I'm sure it's far more streamlined now and doesn't involve dial up modems and floppy disks lol)
Normally they are done at our regular gp surgery, and definately not at night, but like the gp last night said, the hospital is around the corner if I'm worried about anything, and they are open 24 hours. He's never had a reaction, unlike his sister. The MMR jab is on the 4 year old schedule, he's still 3, but according to the immunisation board, is able to be given at his age. We have a bit of a mini measels outbreak in my area, so I wanted to get him done so he was fully protected, but my gp for unknown reasons wasn't jumping at the opportunity, (I had had Sasha done early too due to identical reasons) so when they offered last night, I said yes please. Just as well I had the well child book.
